Would you like to learn Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Publisher?

This fully accredited course will suit people who have gained good basic computer skills through work or short courses and would like to gain a qualification.

Available via two flexible modes:

  • Weekly Class Attendance
    $60.00 per term
    Students will require self paced training manuals suitable for use with Microsoft applications. Such manuals are available from Coonara for $35.00 each.
  • Distance Mode
    $20.00 per assessment
    Attend class only for assessments or leave work with the tutor for assessment.
    Email, telephone and fax support from the tutor.

Students will require self paced training manuals suitable for use with Microsoft applications. Such manuals are available from Coonara for $30.00 each.

These daytime classes are structured (initially) with tutor led sessions.
There will be a set amount of Units per Application to be completed each week.

These daytime classes will start with the application Microsoft Word. 

Units covered in this application will be:

Starting and Exiting Word for Windows. Introduction to word-processing. Display the start-up screen and correctly exit word
The Word Start-up Screen. Describe the purpose of each part of the screen.
Selecting menu Items.

 Select Menu items

Word-wrap feature, clear the screen, enter key function and moving the cursor. Describe the use of the Enter Key, the automatic word-wrap feature and how to clear the screen.
Creating and Saving a document. Shows how to create, name and save a document.
Opening, Resaving, Finding and Viewing a document. Shows how to open a document, resave the document and view the document.
Editing Text
  • Insert text
  • Replace text
  • Delete text
Shows ways to insert text, replace text, and delete text to documents you’re typing and existing text.
Printing:
  • From the screen
  • From a document on disk
  • Print preview
  • Cancel a print job
Demonstrates how to print documents

Changing the Style of Text

  • Bold
  • Underline
  • Italics  
Demonstrates ways to change the appearance of text by using bold, underline, and italics

Changing the appearance of text

  • Change Alignment
  • Justify text
  • Change the Typeface
  • Change text Size
Improve the appearance by changing the size of text, cantering text and justifying text.
Copy, Cut & Paste, Insert Auto text

Demonstrates ways you can copy text to leave the original text in the same place, while the copy can be places somewhere else. Insert text from another file in your document.

Formatting the Document by Changing Margins, Tabs and Indents Learn how to insert Tabs and Indents and change the width of margins.
Spell checking your Document. Find/Replace Learn to spell check your document to eliminate any spelling errors before printing.
Create headers/Footers.
Create multipage documents
Insert fixed headers and footers into each page of your document.
Copying a file using the Save As command. Deleting a File Using a formatted diskette you’ll be able to copy a document from your hard disk to diskette and delete a file.
Create Tables, change table dimensions and formatting Create Tables, change border colour and size, shading cells and other table defaults.
Insert Graphics, clipart, wordart, autoshapes, callouts and text frames Insert graphics to enhance your document.
Mail Merge. Insert Merge Fields. Create primary, secondary and merged documents. Insert merge codes such as automatic date function.
Final Assignment

Use all skills learnt to create a document.
Retrieve the document, make some changes and resave your new document.
